Terms of Service

These terms are an agreement between you and Russell Jones Mfg. Inc., a British Columbia company ("we", "us"), which operates Halcyon Kingdom at halcyonkingdom.com. By creating an account or playing, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't play.

1. Your account

You must be at least 13 years old to play. If you're under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
One person, one account. Don't share, sell, buy or trade accounts.
Keep your password safe. You're responsible for what happens on your account.
Give a real email address you can read; it's how you reset your password and how we reach you.

2. Fair play

Halcyon Kingdom is a game of strategy against other people. You agree not to:

use bots, scripts, macros, auto-clickers or any program that plays for you or automates the game;
exploit bugs (report them instead), interfere with the servers, or access accounts or data that aren't yours;
run several accounts to help yourself ("multi-accounting"), or "push" resources or troops between accounts in ways meant to get around the rules;
harass, threaten, impersonate or spam other players, or post hateful, sexual, illegal or personal information in names, chat or mail.

The game checks for automated play (for example with an occasional "are you there?" check). We may warn, mute, suspend or ban accounts, remove items or progress gained unfairly, or reset an account, at our judgment. Serious or repeated breaks of these rules can mean a permanent ban.

3. Crowns and items

Crowns are the game's premium currency. Crowns, items, troops, cities and everything else in the game are a limited licence to use features of the game, not property. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for real money, and can't be transferred outside the game's own features.
You can buy Crowns with real money in the Shop. Prices are in US dollars; sales tax or VAT is added at checkout where we are required to collect it. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Crowns are delivered to your account as soon as the payment is confirmed. If they haven't arrived within an hour, contact us.
Refunds: you can ask for a refund of a purchase within 14 days, as long as the Crowns from it haven't been spent. Write to support@halcyonkingdom.com from your account's email. Where the law gives you further rights (for example as a consumer in the EU or UK), those apply. Once Crowns are spent in the game, the purchase can't be refunded, because the digital content has been used.
If a payment is refunded or reversed (a chargeback), the Crowns from it are removed from your account. Using a card or payment method you aren't allowed to use is a serious breach of these terms.
To protect against stolen cards, the largest packs are only available to accounts a few days old, and new accounts have a daily spending limit.
We may change, rebalance or remove items and game features, and correct balances that result from errors.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of what you write (names, mail, chat, alliance text). You give us permission to store and show it in the game as needed to run it. We may remove content that breaks these terms. Chat and alliance messages are visible to other players; don't post anything private.

5. The game and changes

The game is provided "as is". We work to keep it running and fair, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your progress will never be lost (we keep nightly backups, and a restore can roll the world back to the last one).
We may change the game, these terms, or end the game. For important changes to these terms we'll give notice in the game. Playing after a change means you accept it.
You can stop playing at any time, and ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy Policy).

6. Ownership

Halcyon Kingdom, its name and logo, its software, artwork, text and other content belong to Russell Jones Mfg. Inc. or its licensors. You may play the game and share screenshots and videos of your play; you may not copy, modify, resell or redistribute the game or its content, or run your own copy of it.
Halcyon Kingdom is an independent game. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any other game, publisher or developer. Other names and trademarks belong to their owners.
Historical people and real places named in the game are used for flavour only.

7. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost game progress, items or Crowns. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of British Columbia, unless the consumer law of the place you live gives you the right to bring them in your own courts.
